fangirl-writes-poetry:

hunger games

Man does not live by bread alone,
   Until God says he must –
Until the tyrant on the throne
  Claims mercy is not just
And all his gaudy angels haste
   To hymn his every word
While mortals such as me must sate
  Their taste for the absurd,

And every life is but a pawn
   Maneuvered in king’s games,
Made to duel one by one
   ‘Til every death’s the same;
‘Til nothing more than life is craved
    Yet all fear to be alive:
The odds will favor the depraved
    When all hunger to survive.
