Im not the anon that asked about shades of magic but I’ve been debating about it for a while bc I wasn’t sure if I’d find an adult fantasy too confusing but you made it sound rly good so I think ima ask for it for my birthday!! Thank you!

What is your opinion on “Shades of Magic”? I’ve never read it, but I was thinking about it. Is it as “grown up” as ACOTAR, or oriented younger?

Please read it! It’s one of my top trilogies of all time!

V. E. Schwab’s writing is incredible, the style is so full of wonder and it’s easy to read. Plus the story itself is interesting and original, the characters are relatable and well-developed, the ships are adorable, and the plot puts you through so many emotions. I was hooked from the first line.

Shades of Magic is technically adult fantasy, but it is much less graphic than acotar. There’s nothing like chapter 55 or the inn scene, but there is still blood and fighting and that sort of graphic. TBH I would let my little sister read it and not worry at all.
