*clears throat* Alright, my friend. The simple answer is that I like Lucien more than Az, but that’s a shoddy answer and makes me sound like a bitch. I do love Azriel and want him to be happy, don’t think I don’t, but he would never be truly happy with Elain. Here is why.
Lucien and Elain are mates.
If Elain and Azriel were to ever be in a relationship, there would always be that bond lingering, even if Elain rejected it. Azriel deserves someone that can give themselves fully to him. Whether that’s a mate or otherwise.
Remember, mates are supposedly rare, so it would be… not very difficult to find someone that hasn’t rejected a mating bond?
It’s just.. to me it’s illogical to have Azriel and Elain be anything more than friends.
I honestly hate talking about all of this because I feel like I’ve already said these things before and I hate being redundant. I also hate talking about this because I hate this ship war with a burning passion. So do not judge me for my saltiness on the matter.
Saying that Elucien being canon would get in the way of Azriel’s happiness is assuming a lot…
The fact of the matter is we DON’T know if Azriel loves Elain, so who you decide to ship can’t be based on that. Shipping Elucien isn’t wrong even if Azriel loves her, because there is still so much more development that needs to happen.
Really, we know almost nothing about Azriel, Lucien, and Elain so both Elucien and Elriel are almost entirely based on headcanon. This means that there is absolutely no right or wrong ship, and even if one were canon, you can ship whatever you want!
