After the war, Aelin makes a habit of stealing a book from Dorian’s library every time she visits. She doesn’t think he even notices, until after one of his visits to Terrasen, she goes looking for a book only to find it missing. The next time she goes to Adarlan, she finds her book on his shelf.
They continue this for years, stealing books from one another. Sometimes it’s a book the other has left out specifically for them, that they think the other would enjoy. Other times, they’ll steal the one the other is currently reading, just to be obnoxious.
Eventually, both the Adarlan Royal Library and the Orynth Library are filled with stolen books and decades and decades later, someone will pull a book from the shelf and find an aged note to a long-ago King or Queen wedges between the pages.
