“That’s what I love about reading: one tiny thing will interest you in a book, and that tiny thing will lead you onto another book, and another bit there will lead you into a third book. It’s geometrically progressive—all with no end in sight, and for no other reason than sheer enjoyment.”

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

babes, I just watched this movie on Netflix and I am forever changed as a person.

You know how every person has that one movie/book that they watch over and over again, and you associate it with them forever? For my mom and all her siblings, that movie/book is The Princess Bride. They constantly quote it (it’s actually quite scary when they all get together, they could literally perform the movie on the spot), and so it’s definitely shaped the lens I view them through.

Well for me, that movie/book is The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Or at least, it will be from now on. This is MY STORY, y’all. I can’t recall any other movie that has gotten such a reaction out of me. It was beautiful, heart-wrenching, funny, insightful, romantic, and just everything I look for in a good story. (NOT TO MENTION THE INCREDIBLE CAST, OML!)

I am currently reading the book (which by the way is written as a series of letters, so cool!) and listening to the movie soundtrack at the same time. I’m just so in love, guys.

You can probably expect some art in the future. There’s one scene in particular that I just HAVE to recreate.

has anyone else read Ruined by Amy Tintera?

I’m currently reading it (it was free with the Kindle Unlimited free trial) and it’s really good so far! I was instantly hooked. While it’s not the best writing I’ve ever read, I’m finding myself strangely drawn to it and its fast pace and relatable characters (Cas is so Me)

i love your art and blog! i’m new to the fandom, so what books would you recommend for a fellow fan of sjmaas? i’ve also read and enjoyed leigh bardugo’s books.

Thank you and welcome to the fandom!

The first book I read after sjm was This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab, and I would highly recommend her adult books as well (I have yet to read Vicious, but I very much enjoyed the Shades of Magic trilogy)

If you’re looking for other books about fae, The Cruel Prince and An Enchantment of Ravens are both amazing. I also have The Hazel Wood, but I haven’t read much of it yet so I’m not sure what it’s like.

If you liked Leigh Bardugo, then you’ll probably also like The Raven Cycle! I’m on the last book and I love the series so far!

And one more: I just finished Caraval and ended up loving it even though I was unsure about it at first. To be honest I regret waiting this long to finally read it.

I hope this helps! Feel free to message me if you want to know more!

If any of you have not read The Princess Bride (or in the very least seen the movie) PLEASE do now!!!! I don’t think a book has ever made me laugh this hard

for example,

“I love you,” Buttercup said. “I know this must come as something of a surprise, since all I’ve ever done is scorn you and degrade you and taunt you, but I have loved you for several hours now,”

_____

“Your father is dying.”

“Drat!” said the Prince. “That means I shall have to get married.”

_____

“I’ll never love you.”

“I wouldn’t want it if I had it.”

“Then by all means let us marry.”

_____

“He’ll never catch up!” the Sicilian cried. “Inconceivable!”

“You keep using that word!” the Spaniard snapped. “I don’t think it means what you think it does.”
