It’s the little things. After the unplanned and dramatic reveal of my mental health issues, my dad opened up Amazon and ordered me some better headphones and ear plugs. My mom brought me a glass of water. We watched tv together in silence. The little things make all the difference in making someone feel loved and believed and supported.
when I got home from a pretty bad day at school today, my mom had taken the dirty dishes out of my room and put my favourite snacks on my bed. I love her too much for words

Where do I even begin with this book? I had reached a point a month or so ago where I was just about ready to give up on this industry. Being a concept artist is hard. Its also extremely competitive and I had gone a few months with constant no’s from various companies, knocking my confidence and motivation. I could feel that little fire within me slowly starting to go out and it scared me because there isn’t anything else that I want to do apart from paint. But I had stopped painting by this point (oh, the irony!). There was no passion left in me to carry on and I had reached my breaking point with it.
Then I got an email from amazon saying my pre-order of A Court of Mist of Fury had been downloaded onto my kindle.
I read the first page and didn’t stop until I had finished it.
Suddenly my motivation was back, my spark was back to paint and I loved it.
So this is my little way of saying thank you to the amazing @sjmaas for giving me back my mojo, for her incredible writing and mesmerizing characters and for her imagination that has fueled my own.
