12) what did you think of the sex scenes in KoA (since they are always a topic of discourse)?

I liked how they were less graphic than in acotar or eos. I appreciate them to show the character development and stuff, but I don’t particularly care for them (lol please don’t hate me, fandom)

9) whose heroics were the most inspiring?

Yrene and Elide!! These two ladies were incredible strong, badass, and crucial to the fight, despite their being less trained in fighting. It made me so so happy to see characters that weren’t seasoned warriors, who maybe wouldn’t be a natural at every sport (though we know Yrene is good with self defence), actually be strong and valuable. I’ve never been good with sports or fighting or anything because of my asthma, so it’s discouraging to see all these super physically inclined characters be pushed as the ideal. So having Elide joining the fae warriors on the quest for Aelin and not be ridiculed for being slower than them, having her be the hero who saves Lorcan, having Yrene be the one to defeat Erawan? Made my heart so happy.

14) name your top three BROTPs coming out of KoA.

Fenrys and Aelin (so many years from them), Gavriel and Elide (how sweet were they!), and of course Dorian and Chaol.

17) do you wish anyone had died who ended up living?

Not really! Choal’s father if I had to choose anyone. But I’m pretty happy with the number of deaths and the way they were handled.

19) name three things you would change about KoA – and no cheating! You must pick three things.

1- make it less explicit that Aelin saw Feyre and Rhysand. It would have been more fun to leave it to the reader to theorize, I think. And it would have seemed less like fanservice.

2- no mention of Lysandion wedding at the end. Not that I don’t want them to get married, I just think they both need more time before they take that step.

3- either explain where Nox went at the end or don’t include him at all.

6) what did you think about the scene with the lock?

I really liked the direction Sarah ended up going in! There was still loss for both Aelin and Dorian II but I was so grateful that neither had to die. The nameless king was a twist I did not see coming, and it was one of the few I times I was actually in shock from the book. I loved how it allowed Dorian II to move past his resentment for his father in a way that used actual actions, instead of someone just telling him to forgive or whatever.

10) what is one fanfic that you must read or write after the events in KoA?

I’d be open to writing a drabble or something on Mama Yrene! She’s my favourite female character in the book and I love the image of her being a mother (which is also why that’s the first thing I drew post-KoA as well haha)

11) were you satisfied with the way Aelin was freed from Maeve?

I think so, yes! I appreciated that it wasn’t someone just swooping in and taking her out, that she had a hand in her own escape. It broke my heart when I thought Fenrys was going to die from breaking the blood oath because he’s also one of my favourites, but I actually liked the suspense. It was just so beautiful to me that he was willing to die to get her out.
