We read Pit Pony when I was around that age and I remember it being really traumatic. (I’m like 90% sure the horse died when it got trapped in the mine or something). What’s with elementary schools terrifying their students with sad books?
Dude Stone fox traumatized me. I looked up the reading level and if I was in first grade I was 6 or 7 and it’s for 7/8 year olds???? Tf?? That’s like fourth grade stuff emotionally 😂
